One of my favorite ways to engage gifted learners is through student-created podcasts. I will never forget my first attempt at Podcasting. Look how far we have come in education and technology. I taught 6th grade Reading at Lincoln Middle School in Rio Rancho, NM. My students came up with the BEST podcasting ideas! We used an iPod and an iTalk attachment to record:

This was the latest technology at the time! We didn’t have laptop carts so every student could record whenever they wanted to or work all at the same time. Every student used my personal iPod/iTalk to record.

Back to the present..,

Podcasting combines creativity, communication, research, technology, and storytelling into one authentic learning experience. Instead of simply writing for a teacher, students create content for a real audience, making their work more meaningful and memorable.

In our #smithingifted classroom, podcasts have become a powerful way for students to share ideas, teach others, and explore topics that matter to them.

Why Podcasting Works So Well for Gifted Students
