Students choose one rubber duck character and take that character through a growing collection of creative writing adventures — narrative, informational, argumentative, historical and more. The duck stays the same. The challenge changes. The writer grows.
What is the Duckventures Writing Challenge?
An online creative writing course from #smithingifted. Students complete 12 writing adventures, each one a different genre and purpose: mystery, travel writing, news reporting, explanation, historical fiction, argument, survival, investigation, business pitches, podcast scripts and future-focused writing.
Why one duck?
Because students keep the same character, they don't start from zero each time. Their energy goes into the new writing skill, while their duck gains personality, voice, backstory and relationships across every adventure.
